Understanding how the price of a flight is determined

Wingly community pilots are private pilots who share flight costs with their passengers. They do not provide commercial services or make a profit, and are not Wingly employees. These pilots, who are passionate about aviation, fly on their own time and share the cost of the flight with their passengers on an equitable basis.

Cost-sharing models

1. Fixed price per passenger
The total cost of the flight is divided according to the number of seats on the aircraft. The price per passenger remains fixed, regardless of the number of passengers.

2. Equal cost sharing
The price per passenger varies according to the number of reservations.

Example for a 4-seater aircraft:

Flights with this option are marked “From £X”.
  1. 1 passenger: 50% of costs for pilot, 50% for passenger
  2. 2 passengers: 33% for the pilot, 33% per passenger
  3. 3 passengers: 25% for the pilot, 25% per passenger

The price paid at the time of booking covers fuel, airfield fees, aircraft rental, services and insurance. An estimate of costs is provided according to the duration of the flight, the number of passengers and the type of aircraft used.
