Take over a booking through our new feature "Booking Opportunities"
Thanks to this new feature, you can now receive requests that have expired, been refused or cancelled by other pilots in just a few clicks, or enter external reservations that we add into the feature. As the bookings have already been paid for, all you have to do is offer to take over the booking for passengers in the case of failed requests, or simply accept the handover in the case of external bookings that we add. By rebooking or entering a reservation, you agree to operate, as far as possible, the flight as described in the flight summary: a great opportunity to discover new routes!
Here is the procedure to use the feature:
Step 1 - Enter your preferences to refine the list of bookings you can take over:
Note: Using filters within the feature allows you to sort the bookings based on your preferences. Using filters does not change your default preferences.
Step 2 - Find the bookings you want to take over and hide those that are not of interest to you:
By clicking on the flight title, you can access a summary of information regarding the flight originally booked by the passengers. It's worth noting that by taking over a bookings, you automatically offer passengers a flight similar to the one originally booked.
The amount shown represents the maximum you can receive. This is the pilot share for the flight initially booked by the passengers or the maximum amount available for an external booking added. If the cost of making a similar flight with your aircraft is higher, you will only receive this maximum amount. The decision to take over the booking in these circumstances is up to you.
Step 3 - Offer to take over the booking for the passengers:
In order to maximise passengers' chances of finding an available pilot, we have extended the possibilities by allowing pilots from neighbouring airfields to offer a takeover from their own airfield if, after the first 24 hours, no pilot from the original airfield has offered to take over the reservation.
In this example, the hourly cost of our aircraft is higher than that used by the original pilot, resulting in a higher total flight cost for the same route. With our aircraft, the total cost of the flight amounts to £220. In the case of strictly equal sharing, two passengers should contribute a total of £147 ((£220/3) x 2). However, the maximum amount that can be received in this example is £124. It is therefore up to me to decide whether I still wish to take over the booking under these conditions.
In our example, we are within 24 hours of a failed booking request. Currently, only pilots at the initial airfield can propose a takeover. If no proposal is made within this time, pilots from neighbouring airfields will see the takeover appear in their interface and will then be able to propose a takeover from their airfield. Note that during the search for a new pilot, passengers have the option of modifying the list of neighbouring airfields to avoid receiving offers from undesirable airfields.
When taking over a booking, you have the option of taking it over on the passengers' preferred date or on an alternative date indicated by the passengers at the time of the initial request. If no alternative date has been indicated, you can only accept the booking on the date preferred by the passengers. Please note that we allow passengers to add new dates from their account in order to maximise their chances of finding a pilot.
Step 4 - Await confirmation from the passengers and take off!
The external bookings we add appear with the words ‘Instant acceptance’ and therefore do not need to be validated by passengers.
When making a booking takeover proposal, passengers have 24 hours to accept. Once accepted, the booking appears in your list of booked flights, and you are notified of the passengers' response.
You can also access the history of your booking takeovers and communicate with the passengers:
Here's how to manage notifications related to this feature:
Note: Notifications are based on the preferences provided. You will receive notifications for booking opportunities that match your preferences.
